Is there a better word in the English language than "free"? Add the word "tickets," and you've got a dream come true for New York theatregoers, who will be able to snap up 5,000 free tickets to 100 New York City theatres starting on Oct. 1 at 10 a.m.

These free, first-come, first-serve tickets are available for performances between Oct. 16 and Oct. 30 at some of New York's most exciting Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway theatres. A kick-off party will inaugurate the free-night mini-season on Oct. 16 in Union Square and at Element, a Lower East Side club.
