Stage Doors
Teaching artists collaborate with classroom teachers to develop a series of eight in-class sessions to prepare students for an engaged theatre experience.
Stage Doors is a project-based arts education program that provides New York City middle and high school students with an in-depth introduction to live theatre. Each class attends a Broadway or Off-Broadway performance and participates in eight in-class workshops. Four of the workshops are conducted by a guest teaching artist and four by the classroom teacher. The workshops engage students in discussion, writing, reading and improvisation to prepare them for their experience at the theatre.

Offered at no cost to public high schools within the five boroughs of New York City, Stage Doors aligns with a number of the theatre benchmarks from the New York City Department of Education’s Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts.
