Ain’t Misbehavin’ recalls the glory of the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s and ‘30s, when high-society Manhattan nightclubs like the Cotton Club and Savoy Ballroom as well as Lenox Avenue dives were filled with piano players banging out the new beat known as swing.
Based on the infectious music of Fats Waller, this musical provides an evening of boisterous and humorous songs that help to reflect the moods of an era gone by, complete with memorable songs including, “Squeeze Me,” “Jitterbug Waltz,” “I’m Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter,” and, of course, the title song, “Ain’t Misbehavin’.”
