Celebrating its 10th Edition, Under the Radar at The Public Theater is an explosively diverse festival of new theater from the U.S. and around the world that spotlights artists ranging from emerging talents to masters in the field. The festival offers a crash course in theater that is exciting, independent, and experimental, created by some of the most dynamic artists working today.
UTR is a city-wide festival that engages New York and its citizens, as well as many cultural visitors, in a 12-day intensive dialogue about the times we live in, seen through the lens of the world’s most innovative theater creators. Embedded in the Festival is a professional symposium that focuses on the global issues of contemporary theater - UTR provides a singular opportunity and high-profile platform for artists to be exposed to the larger world of touring theater, international and national presenters, and most importantly - a wider audience.
Over the last decade, UTR has presented 144 companies from 36 countries including presented works by such respected artists as Elevator Repair Service, Nature Theater of Oklahoma, Back to Back Theatre, Gob Squad, Belarus Free Theatre and Young Jean Lee.
