More than any other venue in the American theater, the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival Theater Tent is the perfect home for the sorts of comical-tragical hybrids you’ll see here this summer: an uproarious summertime romp, a fantastical work from the twilight of Shakespeare’s career, Sondheim’s homage to fractured fairy-tales, a reimagining of a French classic by a longtime HVSF fan favorite, and an electrifying play of political upheaval — specially shaped for student audiences.
Boscobel, a Hudson River estate in Garrison, is the Festival's performance site. It offers a magnificent setting, ample parking, grounds personnel and an established reputation as a tourist attraction. In its new home and under a big tent, the Festival has grown dramatically, from its first audience of 230 to over 32,000
