Stephen Petronio’s training originated with leading figures of the Judson Church era, so his history as a dancer and choreographer has deep roots, dating back some 30 years. In the process, he has created his own unique language of contemporary movement, its trademark being the integration of multiple forms of movement which remains central to his creative vision and drive.

Petronio was the first male dancer of the Trish Brown Company and was named the first Artist-in-Residence at the Joyce Theatre
. When he brings his dancers to the Berlind Theatre, audiences are in for a real treat: the program will include Merce Cunningham’s RainForest (featuring an electronic score composed by David Tudor and visual design by Andy Warhol) and Petronio’s own Locomotor/Non Locomotor - McCarter Premiere.
