I'm a sucker for stats, and the nominations for the 69th annual Tony Awards are filled with all kinds of fascinating numbers. Tony-less Kelli O'Hara scored her sixth nomination, for The King and I, and everyone is wondering if this will be the year she stops being the Susan Lucci of the stage. Of course, she'll have to beat The Visit's Chita Rivera who, with 10 nods to her name, is tied with the late Julie Harris for the performer with the most Tony nominations ever. O'Hara also faces Kristin Chenoweth, who's not only nominated for her madcap turn in On the Twentieth Century, she's also cohosting the Tony telecast with Alan Cumming. According to analysts, that may give Chenoweth the edge since Tony hosts who are also nominees have a history of winning. See Glenn Close (hosted in 1992 and 1995, and won Tonys for her work in Death and the Maiden and Sunset Boulevard, respectively), Nathan Lane (cohosted in 2001 and won for The Producers), and Hugh Jackman (hosted in 2004 and won for The Boy from Oz). And perhaps my favorite piece of Tony trivia this year: It's the first time three different performers have scored individual nominations for playing the same character in one show: Beth Malone, Sydney Lucas and Emily Skeggs, who portray Alison at different ages in Fun Home. (Tony mavens will recall that all three boys alternating in the title role in Billy Elliot the Musical won a joint Tony back in 2009, and in 2013, all four girls sharing the leading part in Matilda the Musical snagged a special Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre.)

But you don't need to be a number cruncher (or a gambler) to enjoy betting on which nominees will win Tonys. This week, we launched our annual TDF Tony Contest on our Facebook page, and you can compete whether you're a TDF Member or not. Place your vote in 12 categories, and one lucky TDF Member will win a pair of theatre tickets, while one nonmember will snag a $100 TKTS Gift Certificate. So vote for your favorites… or whoever you think will win. They're not always the same!
