The fall may mark the end of summer leisure time, but it also marks the beginning of another fantastic theatre season—and an excellent time to take find great theatre ticket deals through TDF membership and at the TKTS Discount Booths. Indeed, several of the hot new fall shows, on Broadway and Off-, have turned up on the TDF members’ list and/or at the booths.

New Broadway shows offering discounts include 13, Jason Robert Brown’s new coming-of-age musical; A Man for All Seasons, the revival of Robert Bolt’s classic drama about Sir Thomas More, starring Frank Langella; the lavish Dickensian epic musical A Tale of Two Cities, starring James Barbour; the meta-musical sensation [title of show].

Some of last season’s most acclaimed Broadway hits are also offering great deals through TDF and TKTS: The Hitchockian caper comedy The 39 Steps; the saucy sex farce Boeing-Boeing; the delirious roller-skate romp Xanadu; the riveting, rollicking family drama August: Osage County; the teenage rock favorite Grease; the gold-plated revival of Gypsy, starring Patti LuPone; the underwater Disney extravaganza The Little Mermaid, and the Mel Brooks monster mash Young Frankenstein. Off-Broadway is also unveiling a smorgasbord of diverse new entertainments, and some of the best shows are appearing on the TDF members list and at the TKTS booth, including the fabulous new jukebox musical, The Marvelous Wonderettes, at the Westside Theatre; Aliens With Extraordinary Skills, a new play about a Romanian clown chased by Homeland Security, at the Julia Miles Theatre; Babalu-cy!, a bio-play about Desi Arnaz at the Actors Temple Theatre; Basic Training, about the bumpy learning curve of a young Air Force recruit, at the Barrow Street Theatre; a revival of Howard Korder’s buddies-on-the-prowl play, Boys' Life, also at Second Stage; Break Out, the innovative new “extreme dance comedy” show from the makers of Jump! at the Union Square Theatre; an edgy retelling of Poe’s The Masque of the Red Death, at St. Luke’s Theatre; the charming triptych of silver-fox comedies, Flamingo Court, starring Jamie Farr and Anita Gillette, at New World Stages; In Conflict, a docudrama based on the testimony of recent Iraq War veterans, at the Culture Project, and Lady, Craig Wright’s dark friendship drama, at the Rattlestick Theatre.
