The Theater at the 14th Street Y is a modern, professional, and convertible black box theater. The Theater is a center for experimental theater, dance, and multi-disciplinary arts wherein the many faces of a vibrant community center in the East Village meet.
Designed by artists-in-residence and led by multi-media artist David Tirosh the theater renovation began after over 2.5 years of study and dialog on the role of art and culture in our community.
The Theater features a fully moveable and retractable seating system, new wood floor, and state-of-the-art lighting and audio technology, supported by a professional staff.
Through The Theater, the Y is daring itself to reimagine the shape, function, and aesthetic of communal space and vision within a neighborhood at the heart of cultural innovation for New York City and the world.
