May 20 – Students complete TDF’s year-long Residency Project

This week, 700 students from 10 New York City high schools graduated from TDF’s year-long

Residency Project

and premiered their original plays. A cast of professional actors performed staged readings of the student work at the DR2 Theatre or in performance spaces in the schools.

Throughout the school year, these students attended a variety of Broadway and Off Broadway shows including

BBQ, Daphne’s Dive, Kinky Boots

and

Head of Passes

. With guidance from a teaching artist, students also participated in 24 in-class sessions exploring playwriting, musical theatre and physical theatre.

The Residency Project is offered at no cost to middle and high schools within the tri-state area.
