Our congratulations go out to TDF Open Doors Mentor Derek McLane who has been nominated for 2 Emmy Awards! He received recognition for his work on the production design for NBC's THE WIZ LIVE! and the 2015 ACADEMY AWARDS.

TDF Open Doors was founded in 1998 by TDF along with the late playwright, Wendy Wasserstein and was the first arts education program to be given a Tony Award Honor for Excellence. The program pairs groups of 8 students from 24 underserved New York City high schools with a mentor who is a distinguished theatre or dance professional. Throughout an entire school year the students attend six shows – Broadway, Off Broadway or dance.  Each performance is followed by a 90-minute discussion over food with their mentors. The students also keep journals to reflect on and document their experiences. At the end of the year, Open Doors celebrates with a ceremony to honor all participants.
