Even though in-person theatre and dance are back in full swing, in the name of accessibility we're continuing to round up performances to watch online from the comfort of home. Our carefully curated list spotlights the ten best performances to stream over the holidays, Friday, December 19 to Sunday, January 4, 2026, for free or at low cost.

The Green Room 42: Karen Mason: Christmas! Christmas! Christmas!

Live-streaming Friday, December 19, Saturday, December 20 and Sunday, December 21 at 7 p.m. ET for $26.50.

Beloved Broadway belter Karen Mason (Hairspray, Mamma Mia!) puts her personal stamp on Christmas classics while sharing sassy stories about her stage career in this joyous holiday cabaret. Alley Theatre: A Christmas Carol

Live-streaming Friday, December 19 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, December 20 at 2:30 p.m. ET for $39.

Houston's celebrated Alley Theatre is presenting its spirited take on Charles Dickens' heartwarming holiday ghost story and you can watch this weekend's performances at home courtesy of The League of Live Stream Theater.

Mischief Movie Night (In)

Streaming Monday, December 22 until Sunday, January 4, 2026 for £15-£25, approximately $20-$33.

Mischief Theatre, the uproarious British troupe behind NYC's long-running comedy The Play That Goes Wrong, shares recordings of its hilarious improvised movies, with the audience tasked with suggesting the title, genre and setting. Beyond lots of laughs, no one has any idea of what to expect—not even the performers. There are two different editions available, one starting December 22, the other on December 29, both streaming for seven days.

The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Show

Live-streaming Tuesday, December 23 at 10 p.m. ET for $30

Drag divas Jinkx Monsoon and BenDeLaCreme's annual holiday extravaganza is touring the country, bringing marvelous and merry mayhem to all. If you can't catch it in person, the funny and fabulous BFFs are live-streaming this outrageous evening of sassy songs and over-the-top antics for one night! Bonus: Revisit the glamor of Christmas past with recordings of the duo's specials from 2020 to 2024 for an extra fee.

Live From 54 Below: Matthew Morrison: Rhythms & Revelations

Live-streaming on Sunday, December 28 at 7 p.m. ET for $29.

Broadway and Glee star Matthew Morrison performs this very personal concert about what turned him into a musical theatre maven. The Tony and Emmy nominee describes it as "a car wash for your soul"—we're not sure what that means but we're definitely intrigued! Streaming live from the cabaret hub's swanky stage. PBS: Broadway's Leading Ladies

Airing on PBS Thirteen on Thursday, January 1, 2026 at 9:30 p.m. ET for FREE.

Backed by The American Pops Orchestra, some of Broadway's most talented women perform in this thrilling concert, which was recorded in March at The Town Hall. Hosted by two-time Tony winner Bebe Neuwirth, the special includes showstopping numbers by Tony winners LaChanze, Jennifer Holliday, Lindsay Mendez, and Jessie Mueller; Tony nominees Kate Baldwin, Judy Kuhn, Jennifer Simard and Amber Iman; as well as Broadway favorites Mandy Gonzalez, Solea Pfeiffer, Adrianna Hicks, Helen J Shen and McKenzie Kurtz. Summoners Ensemble Theatre: A Christmas Carol

Streaming until Thursday, January 1, 2026 for a suggested donation of $25 or more

Every holiday season, John Kevin Jones stars in this singular solo adaptation of Charles Dickens' holiday classic mounted at the 19th-century Merchant's House Museum in the East Village. In this historic setting, he plays Dickens performing all the characters, just like the Victorian author did back in the day. If you can't make it to the in-person production, you can stream a recording at home.

Hope of the Season: Christmas with The Tabernacle Choir

Streaming until Friday, January 2, 2026 for FREE.

This beloved annual tradition returns to PBS for the holidays. Tony Award winner Ruthie Ann Miles (The King and I, Sweeney Todd) and screen star Dennis Haysbert join the 500-member Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square for this seasonal celebration featuring classic Christmas carols, hymns and an uplifting story of service.

PBS Great Performances: English National Ballet: The Nutcracker

Streaming until Tuesday, January 13, 2026 for FREE.

Enjoy the English National Ballet's lavish rendition of the iconic Christmas ballet featuring more than 100 dancers and musicians. Recorded live onstage at the London Coliseum, this Nutcracker is set in Edwardian London and centers Clara in this magical holiday fantasia. Jefferson Mays in A Christmas Carol

Available to rent on Amazon for $1.

The Christmas spirit continues with Tony winner Jefferson Mays playing all the characters in this thrilling, one-man adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic, from Scrooge to Tiny Tim. Originally mounted at LA's Geffen Playhouse in 2018 and then on Broadway in 2022, the production was reimagined for digital consumption by Tony-winning director Michael Arden and costume and set designer Dane Laffrey, who restaged and recorded it during quarantine at the stunning United Palace theatre in Washington Heights. The result is a fresh and intimate take on Dickens' timeless tale featuring Mays in a tour-de-force performance—make that performances.
