Even though in-person theatre and dance are back in full swing, in the name of accessibility we're continuing to round up performances to watch online from the comfort of home. Our curated list spotlights the five best options to stream this weekend, Friday, August 22 to Sunday, August 24, for free or at low cost.

The Green Room 42: Tom Sellwood's Through The Ages

Live-streaming Saturday, August 23 at 7 p.m. ET for $26.50.

London-based stage actor Tom Sellwood (The Phantom of the Opera, Napoleon) crosses the pond to host a cabaret featuring Broadway actors Candi Boyd (Jersey Boys), Q Smith (Come From Away, Mary Poppins) and Lawrence Stallings (The Book of Mormon) alongside young up-and-comers. PBS Great Performances: New York City Ballet in Madrid

Streaming until Sunday, August 31 for FREE.

Marvel at the breathtaking dancers of New York City Ballet in this performance recorded live onstage at Madrid's Teatro Real in 2023. The lineup features Serenade, the first full-length ballet created by George Balanchine in the US, as well as the legendary choreographer's Square Dance. The Times Are Racing by NYC Ballet's resident choreographer Justin Peck rounds out the evening.

PBS Great Performances at the Met: Le Nozze di Figaro

Streaming until Monday, September 1 for FREE.

Great Performances presents Mozart's masterpiece Le Nozze di Figaro, a romantic comedy of marriage and madness with Michael Sumuel as the wily Figaro, who's always trying to outwit his womanizing master Count Almaviva, played by Joshua Hopkins. Olga Kulchynska, Federica Lombardi and Marianne Crebassa costar in this mounting, which was recorded live onstage at The Metropolitan Opera earlier this year.

Virtual Stage Lab: My Improbable Sisters

Streaming for FREE.

Virtual Stage Lab (VSL), a streaming service dedicated to sharing new plays and musicals for free, launched this week. Among its offerings is the new history-inspired comedy with songs My Improbable Sisters. Created by Tony nominee Paul Gordon and David Goldsmith, who are also VSL cofounders, the show centers on a Jewish family celebrating the first night of Hanukkah, who discover their connection to undersung Civil Rights activist Claudette Colvin, played by BOOP! Tony nominee Jasmine Amy Rogers.

Stratford Festival: The Tempest Starring Christopher Plummer

Streaming on All Arts for FREE.

The late great Tony- and Oscar-winning Christopher Plummer stars as Prospero in Stratford's 2010 mounting of Shakespeare's The Tempest, a tale of revenge, forgiveness, magic and love. Tony winner Des McAnuff, then Stratford's artistic director, helmed this well-received production.
