Inspired by George Brant's acclaimed play of the same name, Grounded features music by two-time Tony-winning composer Jeanine Tesori (Kimberly Akimbo, Fun Home). Mezzo-soprano Emily D'Angelo stars as a fighter pilot who gets pregnant and is forced to trade the cockpit for a drone. Her life upended, she struggles to accept her new reality as a soldier, a wife and a mom. Tony winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening) directs this powerful opera, which was recorded live onstage at the Met last fall.
