Did you know legendary movie and TV star Dick Van Dyke started his career on Broadway? In fact, he won a Tony Award for his hilarious turn as Albert Peterson in Bye Bye Birdie just a few months before his eponymous sitcom turned him into a household name. In honor of his 100th birthday this week, American Masters is presenting this new documentary chronicling his eight-decade (!!) career, from radio deejay to nightclub performer to the stage to the screen. In addition to iconic clips, Starring Dick Van Dyke features rare footage and performance clips along with brand-new interviews with costars and colleagues, including Julie Andrews, Carol Burnett, Jim Carrey, Ted Danson, Steve Martin, Conan O’Brien and Martin Short.

This whimsical deconstruction of the iconic Christmas ballet returns to 92NY for two performances this month, but if you can't make it in person, a recording will be available to stream for 96 hours. Choreographed by David Parker for his troupe The Bang Group, Nut/Cracked is not for purists. He takes a playful approach to this old chestnut filled with tap, disco and vaudeville performed to jazzy arrangements of Tchaikovsky's score by Duke Ellington and Glenn Miller.
