Keith David, one of many Broadway favorites paying tribute to Sammy Davis, Jr. in a live-streamed concert this Sunday.

Our curated list spotlights the five best options to stream this weekend, Friday, December 5 to Sunday, December 7, for free or at low cost.
Live-streaming Friday, December 5 at 7 p.m. ET for $26.50.
Although he came to fame on The Dukes of Hazzard, John Schneider's got a hell of a voice as he's proved on Broadway in Grand Hotel and Chicago. For this intimate acoustic set, he plays guitar and croons while sharing the story of his life and long career as an actor, singer, writer and producer. Live-streaming directly from The Green Room 42 in Midtown. If you prefer to attend in person, click here for info.

An impressive lineup of Broadway favorites, including Tony nominees Keith David, Jasmine Amy Rogers, Marc Kudisch and Lee Roy Reams, pays tribute to the late legend Sammy Davis, Jr. in honor of his 100th birthday. The song list includes numbers from his many movies and albums as well as his too-infrequent Broadway appearances, including "I Gotta Be Me," "Yes I Can," "The Candy Man," "Too Close for Comfort" and "Something’s Gotta Give." This weekend, the movie adaptation of the blockbuster Broadway revival of Merrily We Roll Along arrives in theatres. But if you want a behind-the-scenes look at the original Broadway flop, I highly recommend Lonny Price's Best Worst Thing That Ever Could Have Happened. This poignant documentary chronicles the tumultuous making of the musical as well as what happened to the young artists involved in the infamous Stephen Sondheim-Hal Prince bomb. Price, the director, was in the cast and he's lovingly put together this bittersweet tribute to the heartbreak of making art, which features incredible archival footage alongside thoughtful modern-day interviews.

Best-of lists are ubiquitous in December. One play that seems to be on many is Andrew Scott's one-man Vanya, which ran Off Broadway in the spring. If you missed it—or if you want to revisit his stunning tour de force—a recording of the London production is available to stream courtesy of National Theatre at Home. It's just one of many fantastic National Theatre shows you can stream, so be sure to browse the entire list.

It's Nutcracker season! There are several versions available to watch online but this lovely production by the Bolshoi Ballet is a favorite. Famed duo Ekaterina Maximova and Vladimir Vasiliev star in Tchaikovsky's beloved Christmas ballet centering on a young girl who's transported to a fantastical land of mice, sweets and merriment.
