Even though in-person theatre and dance are back in full swing, in the name of accessibility we're continuing to round up performances to watch online from the comfort of home. Our curated list spotlights the five best options to stream this weekend, Friday, May 9 to Sunday, May 11, for free or at low cost.

National Theatre at Home: The Wind in the Willows

Streaming from Thursday, May 8 for $10.

In 2020, London's lauded National Theatre launched its own streaming service featuring professional stage captures of its productions. While you can buy a subscription, shows are also available to rent individually. New to the roster is the heartwarming family musical Wind in the Willows, based on Kenneth Grahame's charming children's novel about the wild adventures of a quartet of countryside friends: Mole, Rat, Toad and Badger. Recorded live onstage at the London Palladium in 2017, this show was written by the team behind the juggernaut Mary Poppins stage adaptation. A 72-hour rental costs $10 and captions are available. PBS Great Performances: Next to Normal

Airing on TV on PBS Thirteen on Friday, May 9 at 9 p.m. for FREE. Streaming online until Monday, June 30.

Caissie Levy (Broadway's Frozen; Caroline, or Change) stars in an acclaimed production of Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey's groundbreaking Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Next to Normal, which was recorded live onstage in London last year. Levy plays a suburban wife and mother trying to navigate mental illness and profound grief in this poignant portrait of a struggling family. Michael Longhurst directs a cast that also includes Jamie Parker, Jack Wolfe and Eleanor Worthington-Cox.

Live From 54 Below: Andrea Marcovicci: Perspicacity: A Mother's Day Celebration!

In honor of Mother's Day, cabaret legend Andrea Marcovicci debuts a brand-new show honoring moms just like her. Jacob's Pillow: Princess Lockerooo and The Fabulous Waack Dancers: The Big Show

Streaming until Friday, May 23 for FREE.

Recorded live onstage at the lauded Jacob's Pillow festival last summer, The Big Show is a tribute to waacking, a street dance style birthed in queer clubs during the disco craze. NYC legend Princess Lockerooo and a troupe of exhilarating dancers celebrate this hybrid genre, which fuses theatrical moves with comedy and drag.

Stratford Festival: The Merry Wives of Windsor

Streaming on All Arts for FREE.

Canadian stage and screen star Geraint Wyn Davies plays Falstaff in Shakespeare's raucous but rarely produced comedy Merry Wives of Windsor. The Bard penned the play to capitalize on the popularity of the over-the-top Falstaff as he attempts to woo two witty wives who get the better of him. Antoni Cimolino directs this romp, which was recorded live onstage at Stratford in 2019.
