Hamilton Tony Award winner Leslie Odom, Jr. is having a ball being back on Broadway in Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch, a rare and rousing revival of Ossie Davis' 1961 satire about racism. Stereotypes are upended and the absurdity of prejudice is exposed in this tale of a preacher who returns to his Georgia hometown to save his church and his brethren. We chatted with Odom, his costars and director Kenny Leon about why this play is as riotous and relevant as ever.
