The London Symphony Orchestra is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading orchestras.

Since its formation in 1904 it has always attracted excellent players from all over the world, many of whom have flourishing solo, chamber music and teaching careers alongside their orchestral work. The LSO draws on an enviable roster of soloists and conductors, including Valery Gergiev, LSO President Sir Colin Davis, Daniel Harding, Michael Tilson Thomas and Principle Conductor Sir Simon Rattle

FRIDAY, APRIL 4th
- Simon Rattle brings the “roaring climaxes, perfectly balanced brass, sumptuous lower strings” (Financial Times) he’s known for to Mahler’s Ninth Symphony, a heartrending revelation by the late-Romantic composer and his last completed score.

SUNDAY, APRIL 6th - Mahler
referred to his “Song of the Earth” as “a symphony in songs.” Rattle and the London Symphony Orchestra illuminate the fleeting nature of human life as depicted in this extraordinary song cycle. Baritone Christian Gerhaher and tenor Stuart Skelton sing the work’s folk texts adapted from Tang Dynasty poetry

MONDAY, APRIL 7th - Mahler’s Tenth Symphony remained incomplete at his death, with the exception of a soaring Adagio first movement and sketches for an imaginatively scored remainder. Some 64 years later, musicologist Deryck Cooke finished weaving this extraordinarily rich tapestry.
