Founded, directed and curated by Thomas Benjamin Snapp Pryor, and co-presented by Gibney Dance in association with Abrons Arts Center, American Realness returns to New York January 4-13, 2019 celebrating its 10 year anniversary!

American Realness is an internationally recognized platform for the discovery of new works from subversive artists, tearing at the boundaries of their forms. The program commands attention for the proliferation of choreographic and performative practices transcending the traditions and rewriting the definitions of American dance and performance.

With a performance program featuring three world premieres from Miguel Gutierrez, Perel and Sujata Goel, and five U.S. premieres from Josh Pethar, Ellen Furey & Malik Sharpe, S.J Norman, Daina Ashbee, and Mariaa Randall, alongside eight encore engagements of acclaimed works from Royal Osiris Karaoke Ensemble, Gillian Walsh, nora chipaumire, Marjani Forté-Saunders, Reggie Wilson / Fist & Heel Performance Group, Jack Ferver, Juliana May, and jumatatu m. poe, American Realness presents fifty-nine performances of sixteen performance works from seventeen artists over ten days at twelve venues in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and The Bronx.
