In 2014, Jacksonville native Marcus Roberts was honored to be featured on CBS 60 Minutes. “The Virtuoso,” traced Roberts from his early roots in Jacksonville and at the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind to his remarkable career as a modern jazz musician. For six years at age 21, Roberts toured with Wynton Marsalis before striking out on his own. His recordings include solo piano, duets, and trio arrangements of jazz standards as well as original suites of music, large ensemble works, and symphony orchestra recordings.
“We call him ‘the genius of modern piano’ because he is,” says Wynton Marsalis
The long-running Marcus Roberts Trio makes their Miller debut, shining a light on their unique and virtuosic style. Each member of the Trio shares equally in leading and changing, displaying their innate connection to the music and each other.
