ETHEL returns to Hudson with exclusive preview performances of its fully realized Circus – Wandering City, the acclaimed string quartet’s new multimedia work inspired by the American circus and its people.

Under the direction of projection designer Grant McDonald, the work combines stunning imagery and film from the Ringling Museum’s vast archive with original music composed and performed live by ETHEL. Revealing the stories from beneath the Big Top, ETHEL’s Circus pays homage to America’s most celebrated and iconographic circus, the recently shuttered Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey’s Circus.

Formed in 1998 and based in New York City, ETHEL is comprised of Juilliard-trained performers Ralph Farris (viola) Kip Jones (violin) Dorothy Lawson (cello) Corin Lee (violin)
