In 2017, The Present Theatre Company, Inc. (creators and producers of FringeNYC – The New York International Fringe Festival) announced a one-year hiatus from producing the event, in order to conduct The Blank Canvas Project – a year of re-imagining the festival and strategic planning for the future.

The NEW York International Fringe Festival returns this October with both a FringeNYC and FringeBYOV segment, as well as other exciting programming and changes.

FringeNYC will take place in Manhattan from October 12th – 28th.

FringeNYC takes place in Manhattan and uses a juried application process to ensure a festival of innovative, diverse, and vibrant emerging performance from around the world; leveraging our adjudication process as a useful tool to help build cultural equity and provide opportunities for under-represented voices. FringeNYC also includes FringeJR (which this year gets a running start – beginning on October 5th), FringeHIGH, and an annual Indie Convening.

FringeBYOV (Bring Your Own Venue) takes place in outer boroughs from October 1st – 31st.

FringeBYOV
(“Bring Your Own Venue”) is our new “open access” segment in the outer boroughs, and encompasses both existing Indie Venues with their own programming as well as FringeNYC alumni producing work in pop-up / stand-alone venues. In its inaugural year, FringeBYOV includes FringeBKLYN, FringeQNS, and FringeSI
