Since 1940, American Ballet Theatre has performed in the greatest theaters around the world, creating a tradition of passion, innovation, and athleticism that transcends cultural boundaries and touches the soul of ballet lovers old and new.

Every fall, join American Ballet Theatre at the David H. Koch Theater for two weeks of mixed repertory ballet performances, featuring classic choreography, groundbreaking World Premieres, and our world-class company of dancers.

This Fall the opening night Gala performance will celebrate ABT Women’s Movement with an evening featuring a World Premiere by tap dancer and choreographer Michelle DorranceLeJeune, choreographed by Lauren Lovette and performed by the ABT Studio Company, and Twyla Tharp’s In the Upper Room.

Highlights include:

In the Upper Room
A ballet in nine parts, In the Upper Room is one of ABT’s most impressive performances. Tharp’s choreography calls for both raw power and extreme grace

Balanchine's Symphonie Concertante

Set to Mozart’s “Sinfonia Concertante in E flat Major for Violin, Viola, and Orchestra,” Symphonie Concertante pairs two principal dancers with the solo violin and viola

Fancy Free
The first ballet Jerome Robbins ever choreographed, Fancy Free is an American classic. While a young dancer at American Ballet Theatre, Robbins collaborated with Leonard Bernstein to create a narrative ballet that was an instant success

Afterite
In his first collaboration with American Ballet Theatre award winning choreographer Wayne McGregor creates a piece the New York Times describes as “ingenious and often suspenseful”. McGregor’s visceral movement brings an energetic spirit to this entirely new take on Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring.
