Sutter is on an outrageous odyssey through his childhood home, his church, dive bars, motel rooms and even nursing homes. Reviews

  • What has come before more than proves that he’s got a sizable talent, not to mention another important asset for a playwright who wants to make his mark by shaking up the world, one audience at a time: fearlessness.

    -----New York Times
  • This satiric portrait of American life is told through the lens of Sutter (Phillip James Brannon), a gay black man whose search for meaning takes him from the mean streets of 1970s Philly to the even meaner streets of present-day Manhattan. Bootycandy begins with several seemingly unconnected vignettes that at first glance don't add up to much, until suddenly they do, in mind-blowing fashion.

  • Funny, smutty and enticingly subversive. A toxically satiric portrait of American life.
