New York Baroque Incorporated is a conductorless orchestra of young players on period instruments in New York City, bringing vital, informed, and fresh performances of a wide range of 17th and 18th-century repertoire, and creating a vibrant landscape for collaborations between historical performance and living composers.
Since its creation, NYBI has received critical praise for its virtuosity, and was lauded by The New York Times for its “do-it-yourself spirit.”

PROGRAM
Santa Rosalia (1687)
Oratorio by Bonaventura Aliotti (1640-1690)

Music written for the Santa Rosalia festivities in Palermo was often destroyed after the initial performance, underlining the ephemeral character of the event. Thanks to a repeat performance in Modena the year following its 1687 premiere, NYBI will resurrect and give the modern-day premiere of the monumental Santa Rosalia, one of four surviving oratorios by Bonaventura Aliotti. Soprano Johannette Zomer will star in the title role, Santa Rosalia.
