This Pulitzer Prize-winning rock musical tells the story of Diana Goodman, a mother struggling with bipolar disorder and the effect this illness has on her family. It’s “an emotional powerhouse of a musical”, addressing such issues as grieving a loss, ethics in modern psychiatry, and the undercurrents of suburban life, exploring via provocative lyrics and a thrilling score how far parents will go to keep themselves sane and their family’s world intact.
Music by Tom Kitt
Book and Lyrics by Brian Yorkey
