Weary of his royal duties, King Lear proposes to break up his kingdom and generously divide it among his three daughters. Joseph Marcell (celebrated classical actor also known for his role as Geoffrey in “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air") gives a commanding performance in the definitive title role. With a stellar ensemble of eight masterful actors on a simple stage creating all the characters and performing musical instruments, this remarkable production reinvigorates classic theatricality with the tempestuous poetry of Shakespeare.

PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE:
September 30 @ 7 PM
October 1-2, 7-9 @ 7 PM
October 3-4, 10-11 @ 8 PM
October 4, 11 @ 2 PM
October 5, 12 @ 3 PM
Off BroadwayPlay - Drama
Show Notes: 1 Intermission
Age Guidance: 16
Audience Advisory: A lively part of the British theater tradition, King Lear will be performed in the same manner as Shakespeare’s companies would have toured—small troupe, actors inventively doubling roles, and simple storytelling.
