Fourteen years ago in Leixlip, Co. Kildare, an aunt and three nieces made an extraordinary decision which seemed to defy explanation. They boarded themselves into their home and entered a suicide pact that lasted 40 days.
The mysterious hunger strike is the starting point for a theatrical investigation which is both social and metaphysical. We didn’t know these women. We weren’t there. We have no idea what they said. This is not their story.
Playing with narrative form and discarding the whys and wherefores, Lippy was widely regarded as one of the most extraordinary works to come out of Ireland last year, from one of the country’s most exciting new companies, Dead Centre (Souvenir, (S)quark! ).
PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE:
WEDNESDAY thru SATURDAY @ 8 PM
SUNDAY @ 2 & 7 PM

4 STARS!
It's a blinding, sometimes confounding piece of performance that starts as it means to go on, with an awkward post-show discussion for a work we never actually get to see. It takes seriously Bertolt Brecht's suggestion that "if one understands a story, it's just that it has been told badly."
----The Guardian -
Bush Moukarzel and Mark O’Halloran’s ‘Lippy’ is an extraordinary and challenging piece of theatre that will probably infuriate as many people as it moves. But I loved this Irish production’s strange, sinister odyssey to the outskirts of human comprehension.
