Penny Arcade occupies a unique position in the American counter-culture and the American avant-garde. She is an internationally respected writer, poet, and one of the handful of artists who created contemporary text based performance art in the 1980’s and she has continued to define Performance Art for nearly three decades,

The Faghag and Her Friends in The Summer of Love
is the latest offering from the undisputed queen of downtown performance: Penny Arcade. Join the “High Priestess of Gay Wit and Wisdom” in this hysterically funny, moving and insightful new show from Penny Arcade and longtime collaborator Steve Zehentner that has had audiences singing its praises from their first few improvisational performances.

The play travels through 1960’s Provincetown to the gay cafes and night clubs of the 1960’s NY to the milieu of New York’s celebrated demimonde where tragedy and transformation walked hand in hand and created a breeding ground for revolutionary thinking and artistic innovation.
