In 2013, American-born, Irish-bred Des Bishop moved to China, became fluent in Mandarin, and followed through on his dream of performing stand-up to a Chinese audience.
This adventure also led him on a search to find a girlfriend at a Beijing marriage market, to a job in a very busy restaurant, and eventually to an entertaining appearance on a TV dating show with 40 million viewers!
