Internationally acclaimed physical theatre ensemble Blessed Unrest, winner of several New York Innovative Theatre Awards including the 2014 Caffe Cino Award for sustained excellence, returns to the Emelin with Doruntine, an extraordinary new work.

Based on the Albanian legend of family loyalty and the power of an unbreakable vow, Doruntine is a magical tale of a family ravaged by war, an impossible journey on horseback, a marriage that spurns tradition and a brother who defies the grave.

Quotation Mark

Doruntine is a wholly theatrical and moving telling of a very relevant and powerful story. It's a window into a culture not often heard from, and is yet another argument for the cultural importance of independent theatre. Both Blessed Unrest and Teatri Oda are independent theatres in their own respective countries, and Doruntine is a testament to the exciting work these kinds of companies are producing.”
