Laurie Uprichard, the curator, was Director of Danspace Project from 1992-2007 and of the Dublin (Ireland) Dance Festival from 2007-2011.

Ecsteriority4 (Part 2)
continues Kimberly Bartosik’s artistic research into questions surrounding violence specific to American culture.

Bartosik has constructed a trio within a landscape of power and desire, where irrational impulses create a feeling of urgency and the inevitability of violation. There is no resolution in this dance. It happens, and then it’s over, and, like violence, the act is instantaneous while the remnants never disappear. Ecsteriority4 (Parts 1 & 2) will premiere in full at The Chocolate Factory Theater in September 2016. Uprichard saw Ecsteriority4 (Part 2) in Montpellier, France.

In BOUND, Dylan Crossman blends gestural and highly physical material, following a precise choreographic score that creates in the viewer a desire for understanding.
Through a straightforward delivery, raw and honest movement emerges, retrieves, and surprises. The work is subtle but present; it is virtuosic but withdrawn and it stretches the fabric of time while shifting the space in which we are viewing it. Uprichard saw Crossman’s work at La MaMa and has watched him dance with Merce Cunningham, Kimberly Bartosik, and Pam Tanowitz in London, Paris, New York, Montpellier, and elsewhere.
