'The New Morality' by Harold Chapin takes us aboard a houseboat on a fashionable reach of the Thames in 1911, the hottest summer on record.

There, we meet Betty Jones who has been simmering all summer, watching her husband make a fool of himself around Muriel Wister. Finally, Betty boils over and tells Muriel exactly what she thinks of her in a voice loud enough to be heard on the opposite bank causing a sensation that ripples through this close knit community.
The New Morality “has a dazzling lucidity, shrewd depths of intelligence and satirical wit...which entitles it to a permanent niche in the repertory of English high comedy” (The Stage).

The Mint is proud to present this play on the centennial of Harold Chapin's untimely death in World War I, for the first time in New York since 1921
