Born in 1934, the Orchestre National de France is the first permanent symphony orchestra established in France.
Désiré-Émile Inghelbrecht, its creator until Daniele Gatti, Music Director since 2008, he has seen a succession headed by prestigious leaders who governed the artistic destiny of the orchestra: Manuel Rosenthal, André Cluytens, Roger Désormière, Charles Munch, Maurice Le Roux, Jean Martinon, Sergiu Celibidache, Lorin Maazel, Jeffrey Tate, Charles Dutoit, Kurt Masur.
The National Orchestra has created many masterpieces of the twentieth century, as The Sun of Water Pierre Boulez, the Turangalîla Symphony Messiaen, Deserts Varese and most great works of Dutilleux. It pursues this mission the twenty-first century, giving life to works by Saariaho, Pécou, Connesson, Mantovani and many other.
