The Renaissance man Stephen Hough is one of the reigning stars of classical music — virtuoso pianist and renowned composer as well as painter, writer and poet.
In 2001 he became the first classical musician to be named a MacArthur “Genius” Fellow. The honor joins multiple Grammy Award nominations, eight Gramophone Awards, including two for “Record of the Year,” and featured iPad app artist status.
On this program, Mr. Hough gives the New York premiere of his Sonata III (Trinitas), (Read his note on the piece on the “Program Notes” tab above.) His recital also includes Romantic masterpieces by Schubert, Franck and Liszt.
