de novo dance's world premiere of shut.eye, a dance theater performance symposium on sleep, dreams, and consciousness.
Inspired by sleep, dreams, and the subconscious, de novo dance's shut.eye creates an immersive, multi-media "dreamscape" through movement, music, and interactive technologies (roughly the time of a complete sleep cycle).
Accompanied by live and electroacoustic music, the performance features de novo's extended roster of dancers, musicians, and sleep experts. Combining experimental belly dance, butoh, performance art, and musical robots, which allow the audience to manipulate the sonic environment, shut.eye creates surreal interpretations of sleep experiences.
