The Corn Exchange, one of Ireland’s leading independent theater companies, makes its New York debut with Annie Ryan’s courageous adaptation of Eimear McBride’s award-winning novel.
The sold-out hit of the 2014 Dublin Theatre Festival and 2015 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, A Girl is a Half-formed Thing follows, with vivid intensity and originality, the inner narrative of a girl from womb to age twenty.
In a career-defining performance, Aoife Duffin (Edinburgh Stage Award for Acting Excellence) portrays a character of astonishing resilience and intelligence, determined to rise above her deprived childhood in Ireland. Rebellious and unrelenting, with biting wit and brilliant spark, McBride writes with an urgency and honesty that “transposes effortlessly to the stage, as if this is where it belongs“ (The Guardian UK).
