In 1909, Haskell Harelik emigrated from Russia. Instead of going to New York, he ended up in Hamilton, Texas (pop.: 1203; no Jews).
This is the true story of the playwright’s grandfather, a stranger in a strange land, who spoke no English, but with a wheelbarrow, a bunch of bananas, and the support of a Texan couple claimed stake to the American Dream.
