This spring, American audiences get their first chance to feast their eyes and ears on this exotic ballet, based on Alexander Pushkin’s folktale, that was the hit of Diaghilev’s Ballet Russes season in 1914.
With his inimitable style and sensitivity, Alexei Ratmansky creates rich characters for the seductive Queen, a marvelously gullible Tsar, and the darkly magical cockerel—set against a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors that evoke a mythical Russia.
