A musical comedy written and directed by Seth Panitch.

Here I Sit Brokenhearted… chronicles the scatological odyssey of one man’s bold quest to discover the meaning behind one of the most enduring forms of communal communication known to Man: the prolific, occasionally pious, and perpetually profane verses etched onto the walls of bathrooms everywhere.

Interspersed with lavatory experiences that the viewer might find either eerily familiar, or just plain eerie, Here I Sit, Brokenhearted… breathes life into those elegant epistles, bringing recognizable favorites from Kilroy to Phallus Man, from the Guy Who Won’t Lift the Seat to the Guy Who Can’t Stop Drawing Boobs, to life.

Through story, song, and the occasional flatulence, the “Celebrants” (four actors who play a myriad of graffiti manifestations) propel the audience through this journey of self (and stall) discovery to the very foot of the Mount Sinai of Water Closet Enlightenment. This rapid fire succession of characters, location, subject, and song gives Here I Sit Brokenhearted… a pulsing sense of urgency- very much akin to the sense of urgency of those who tend to frequent those various stalls.
