Imogen Cooper is England’s First Lady of the piano. She is the kind of artist who contextualizes, elevates, and transforms music you thought you knew, telegraphing worlds of emotion with only a few notes.
Her lyrical and poetic playing is full of the most subtle and touching meaning that it will catch you unawares. No one put it better than the London Telegraph: “Go, listen, and wonder how many better pianists there are alive in this country, or anywhere.” The Queen also seemed to agree and made Cooper a CBE in her 2007 New Year Honors.
Program:
Janácek: Selections from Book 1 of On an Overgrown Path
Schumann: Davidsbündlertanze, Op.6
Albéniz: Selections from Books 1 and 3 of Iberia
Plus works of Debussy
PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE:
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 9th @ 7:30 PM
