From the joy and eros of Yakobson's Eternal Spring, based on the Rodin sculpture of the same name, to the broad comedy of his Village Don Juan, this program explores the visions and delusions of romantic love from different angles and from the Sublime to the Ridiculous.
The program also includes, Yakobson's master work The Jewish Wedding showing the tragic result of mixing money and love. Danced to Shostakovich's music, this ballet is returning after a successful run last year.
The intoxicating temptations and errors of attraction are explored in Walpurgis Night, a ballet from Faust, a Bacchanalian feast.
But above all Beauty is the goddess of the evening and is lavishly danced in Petipa's Talisman and the glorious Melodia a pearl by the Bolshoi choreographer Goleizovsky, to the music of Dvorak.
