Amirov Dance Theater presents CITIZENS OF HERE AND ELSEWHERE, an evening of origin, identity, culture, and dance.
Capturing Artistic Director and Choreographer Alexandra Amirov’s distinct ability to juxtapose humor and tragedy side-by-side, each evening performance will explore the echo of cultural origins in molding our identity and feature the company’s newest piece, The Coop, an autobiographical work inspired by choreographer Amirov’s personal story of emigration from the Soviet Union to Israel exploring the profound and destabilizing effect of uprooting and moving a family from a predominantly conservative, patriarchal society into an open and egalitarian democracy.
