Under the artistic direction of Will Crutchfield, the exciting new ensemble Teatro Nuovo presents a week-long festival of 19th-century opera, featuring today's brightest stars, period instruments, and a unique style of semi-staging that brings each opera to full dramatic life in concert format. Plus master classes, lectures, and more!
Teatro Nuovo presents a semi-staged performance of Tancredi, Rossini’s first 'hit,' which contains some of the freshest, most appealing, and most touching music he ever composed.
Tancredi will be headlined by mezzo-soprano Tamara Mumford as Tancredi (featured in The Metropolitan Opera’s production of Saariaho’s L’amour de loin), soprano Amanda Woodbury as Armenaide, and Santiago Ballerini as Argirio (who had a universally-praised breakout performance last summer in Il pirata at Caramoor). The cast also features mezzo-soprano Hannah Ludwig as Isaura, bass-baritone Leo Radosavljevic as Orbazzano and mezzo-soprano Stephanie Sanchez as Roggero.
