Prize-winning Playwright-Composer Bryan Williams ("That Lady from Maxim's") has crafted a funny and poignant world premiere musical suggested by Alexander Pushkin's satiric novel in verse, "Eugene Onegin," but set in contemporary New York.

Alex, a gifted but troubled young musician leaves his home in Glory, Indiana along with his twin sister Tanya in pursuit of self, independence and maybe even a career in New York City. Alex meets the easygoing, charismatic Eugene, his foil in nearly every way. Our title characters forge an unlikely, unshakable friendship and join a determined group of freshly graduated theater kids who set out to launch a web series in the hopes of getting discovered.

Alex & Eugene
melds Pushkin’s poetic world of high society and Russian Romanticism with a thoroughly modern tale of young artists struggling to find themselves in a world where their bond with each other is often the only refuge from despair. Most vulnerable is Alex, who while musicalizing Eugene Onegin, feels himself and his friends drawn irresistibly into the tragic story.
