It’s 1956, and you’ve been invited to a garden party hosted by Sylvester Wald – the self-proclaimed Mayor of Henry Street – to unearth a time capsule buried by Settlement Founder Lillian Wald. But when the contents prove more perplexing than illuminating, you’ll help Detective Smarts Ladybaum crack the code and ensure Lillian’s legacy lives on.

This world premiere was commissioned by Abrons Arts Center for the 125th Anniversary of Henry Street Settlement

GUMSHOE is being created with Trusty Sidekick’s Young Devisers, a youth ensemble of curated individuals (ages 9 and up) interested in creating original, emergent and progressive theatrical experiences that activate New York City spaces in unexpected ways. Young Devisers will perform alongside members of Trusty Sidekick’s adult ensemble. Gumshoe moves the audience around the grounds and historic rooms of Henry Street Settlement.
