The New York Piano Society, Inc., is dedicated to discovering and developing talented pianists whose primary professions or fields of study are in non-musical areas. NYPS provides its members with opportunities to perform in major NYC concert venues and alongside distinguished artists. Founded in 2005 by pianist Elena Leonova, NYPS presents gifted pianists who are medical professionals, mathematicians, office workers, lawyers, and executives. NYPS cultivates their musical development through public recitals and workshops.
Early Works by Great Composers explores piano pieces written by young composers as one of their first compositions. The program will include works by 17-year-old Beethoven, 17-year-old Borodin, 21-year-old Brahms, 27-year-old Debussy, 20-year-old Schumann, 27-year-old Scriabin, and more!
Our program features NYPS Performing Members who are concert pianists with professions in fields other than music, in collaboration with string ensemble "Opus 21" and NYPS Artists-in-Residence, violinist Hana Mundiya and cellist Leland Ko.
Program
Beethoven - Piano Concerto in B flat Major, Op. 19
Borodin - Piano Trio
Including early piano pieces by Brahms, Debussy, Schumann, Scriabin, Szymanowski, and more.
