The Contingency Plan is Sean Statser and Aminda Asher a husband and wife percussion and cello duo based in NYC and specializing in contemporary music.
The concert is dedicated to the memory of Mindy’s wonderful aunt, Christina Ascher, otherwise known as “Aunt Nina.” She was one of the most exceptional contemporary singers of her time and we continue to be inspired by her.
As a way of paying tribute to her, we commissioned her longtime friend and colleague whom she had numerous collaborations with, Austrian composer Georg Nussbaumer, to write us a piece in her honor. One of the things we loved hearing about the most were Nina’s stories of performing Georg's pieces - he continues his style of totally pushing the performer out of their comfort zone in order to produce something incredibly inspiring and unique.
This performance will also include the world premiere of a piece by Leah Asher called between words and other things and no cello/percussion concert would be complete without Osvaldo Golijov’s Mariel.
Program:
between words and other things - Leah Asher
Seance - Georg Nussbaumer
Mariel - Osvaldo Golijoiv
