A young girl sits by a riverbank on a warm summer day, drowsily reading over her sister’s shoulder when she catches sight of a white rabbit in a waistcoat. This jumpstarts a fun, whimsical adventure in which Alice, Lewis Carroll’s famously curious ingenue, meets a cast of extraordinary characters, from the fierce Queen of Hearts and the bubbly Mad Hatter, to the funny Cheshire Cat and the mysterious Caterpillar.

With an imaginative, eye-popping digital-projection landscape that will transport audiences into Wonderland, this new ballet from the Axelrod Contemporary Ballet Theater will be told through the dazzling, imaginative choreography of Gabriel Chajnik and a world-premiere score by acclaimed composer David Winkler played be a live orchestra conducted by Jason Tramm.

To help create the whimsical characters, Chajnik enlisted costume designer Jose Solis, who has designed for numerous fashion houses including Anne Klein, Ralph Lauren, Emanuel Ungaro, Oscar de la Renta, and Bill Blass.  A children’s choir “The Wonderland Voices” will serve as a compass to guide Alice through her magical Journey and serve as the character’s inner voice, highlighting the rite of passage theme that defines Lewis Carroll’s work.
